On Wednesday morning, approximately 450 Snyder Hall residents were notified that a flood in the basement of the residence hall will prompt a relocation of those residents to other University Housing spaces on campus. The flood severely impacted critical building systems, including electricity, elevators, water heaters, card access systems and data infrastructure. No students’ personal belongings were affected. Since the incident Sunday, university staff assessed the extent of the damage and determined that it is not feasible to safely restore building systems before the end of the semester. There is enough existing space in University Housing to accommodate relocated students for the remainder of the semester, but most students will not be able to stay with their current roommate. Relocation will occur between Saturday, March 21, and Monday, March 23. Our priority is to provide every resident with a safe place to live so they can focus on finishing the semester successfully.
